Paypal, introduced in 1999, has since increased tremendously, encompassing 18 million members to its plan .Thus, shareholders feel that the joining value underrates the company. However, banks feel that Paypal poses a peril to the large sum of money pulled in by the profit and charges by businesses and those who use credit cards. In the interim , First USA Bank , one of America's leading credit card companies , believes that Paypal is breaking its rights with a " Cardless Payment System," that permits PC goers to go ahead with monetary transactions devoid of having the necessary personal account data. Hence, resulting in a September 6th federal case out of Deleware, that declares Paypal's breach as the basis for their irrevocable damaged that ensued. The suit filed by the shareholders, have hypothesized that because transactions on eBay report for two thirds of Paypal's trade, eBay has convinced and haggled with Paypal, to retail at a low price. The shareholders reiterated the offer as "grossly inadequate". Though, Paypal and eBay stated that the shareholders legal action is unjustified. On the other hand, James VanDyke, who tracks Internet disbursements and financial services for Javelin Strategy and Research in Pleasanton, optimistically believes that the regular shareholder may well profit from such a robust incorporation that is further established and monetarily backed.

On Tuesday, Harry Curtis, an analyst for J.P. Morgan, discussed his observations on the situation, at the Global Expo Conference in Las Vegas, Saying, "Las Vegas has surprised us the most. We expected it to be down 6 to 7 percent more than it is." Analysts explain, perhaps the long standing recession and the shock of September 11th is the cause for Vegas's slump. However, it was noted that Las Vegas's Tourism is only down around two percent since last year. Market analysts attribute the minor slide in the stock market to the Industry's will to stay on track , explaining that the Industry has steered clear of the recent corporate bookkeeping's "unkosher" funny business that have surfaced and lead to the markets turmoil. A bond analyst at Bear, Stearns and Company, John Mulkey, said, "We have a cleaner industry. It's highly regulated." Marc Falcone, from Deutsch Bank Securities, shed some light on the increase in figures to the gaming Industry. He noted that the amount of money spent on the gaming arena as a whole has doubled from nine percent a few years ago to eighteen percent as it stands now. The country's gaming market increase, translates into a more recognized and approved Industry, developing and spreading out rapidly.
The Wheel of Fortune slot machine is among twenty of Nevada's MegaJackpots schemes managed by the International Gaming Technologies. The slot machine entered the gaming arena after its original Television game show version became the World's most popular airing game program. The new millionaire noted that the Wheel of Fortune slot machine game is a favorite of his and he kept on playing until his winning streak of smaller jackpots turned into the "big one". The winner expressed his thoughts after he won, explaining that it took him a few minutes to realize what kind of progressive jackpot he really hit . He summed it up in one word, "surreal". The Californian 45 year old labor association's consultant stated that he will keep on working albeit his big win. He said, "I may think about opening my own business sometime in the future but for now I plan to continue working."
Alan Feldman, a representative for MGM Mirage, feels that even though more formalities will ensue, and the data collected confirms to be helpful, then the new rule has proven itself effective. Mr. Feldman elaborated on that point, saying," We're already required to file suspicious activities reports for transactions of $3,000. So this really seems to address smaller operations in smaller gaming states." The head chief of the House Gaming Caucus, Rep. Jim Gibbons of Nevada, commented on the new rule. Mr. Gibbons feels confident that this new procedure will not have a negative impact on Nevada's gaming home and that it's impact doesn't seem to be a troubling infringement on the Industry. The chief noted that, "There is no evidence that any terrorist has ever used casinos as a money-laundering tool." Nonetheless, the new federal ruling will enter the system in six months, and will replace two previous rulings. The ruling overrides state rules, casinos and licensed gaming venues that total profits of more than a million dollars yearly. They would then be subject to act in accordance with the new policy. A 1985 ruling which permitted Nevada's gaming clubs to disclose illegal money dealing reports to the Nevada Control Board, will now report straight to the Federal government, and phase out as well.
On Monday the General Accounting Office filed a makeshift account on this dilemma. Michael Tew from Bear, Stearns &co.'s explained Monday that, "The online gambling industry is particularly vulnerable because state regulations are so patchy and in some cases unknown as opposed to land-based gambling, which is so well regulated in Nevada. Many offshore jurisdictions, particularly those in the Caribbean, exert little or no regulatory control over gambling site operators, who are for the most part unknown." However, it is important to keep in mind that the U.S. Justice Department doesn't have full power, leaving them with their hands tied over this issue. Mr. Tew further discussed the fact that Internet gambling venues money, stems from America and then reaches someone on the other end that is basically an "unknown being". This has instilled fear in many, with the notion of the stranger at the other end, not knowing who you're dealing with. This places a threat to the country's safety, keeping in mind that you may be dealing with a terrorist or a criminal. An associate of Lionel, Sawyer & Collins, Tony Cabot, said that it is extremely difficult to track foul play and crime, since such activities are so vast when you are dealing with the "e-cash" business. Though, when online credit card transactions are made, the probability of money laundering occurring is unrealistic.
