The Long Road to a Grand Slam Million

The much hyped ‘Grand Slam of Slots' Tournament came to an end this month, having lived up to its billing as, "The World's Richest Online Slots Tournament Ever". The 11 day event was fiercely fought out between the top two and it wasn't until the final 24 hours of the competition that Stefan, from South London, finally moved into pole position and pocketed a mammoth million. The Long Road to Riches The nail biting finish only added to the excitement of the first ever online slots Grand Slam. Mike Hebden, Casino Channel Lead, at Microgaming said, "The tournament has certainly lived up to expectations and generated a tremendous buzz amongst the online slot playing community." The journey was a long and arduous one that started way back in July. Stefan, our new Grand Slam Millionaire, won his place with a measly €2 qualifier. He then had to wait until October to take his place at the final tournament, which then took a further eleven days to complete. The tournament had an amazing 8,700 players, each eying the mouthwatering million on offer. A sizeable 482 participants not only had a blast playing slots but also left with some winnings. Those feeling sorry for the unlucky punter, Rick H, who had been in second place for the final week, can rest assured that the €50,000 second place prize provided more than adequate consolation. Business as Usual When questioned about his win, Stefan, who uses the alias Pattoned, said: "I'm ecstatic to have won and can't quite believe it yet. I'm absolutely stunned!" He has vowed to continue working for the time being. Microgaming are encouraged by the success of their first foray into an online slots grand slam and the punters are certainly happy, (especially a certain Stefan from South London!) so let's hope this turns into a regular event.

Italian Gaming Lands a Winner

Italy's premier remote gaming provider, Microgame has weighed in with a winner as Net Entertainment has finalized a license agreement between them. The deal which was recently brokered gives Net Entertainment the honor of being the strategic casino provider of choice to Italian gaming giant Microgame. Regulation is on the way Italian gaming operations are estimated to reach as high as €30 billion by 2010 and present figures suggest that it will reach €17 billion by the end of 2009. Now this lucrative market is about to get an injection of confidence, thanks to Net Entertainment. When the gloves come off and Italy opens up to private gaming companies, it's going to be an unprecedented influx of operators scrambling to sink their teeth into the windfall profits to be made. The European Union favors non-protectionism and free trade across member countries. This extends to online gaming operations too. Italian online gaming leader Microgame is officially Italy's most lucrative independent remote gaming service provider. With 85 million euros generated during 2008 and some 490 million Euros of gross gaming revenues, Microgame is a big-time player. Net Entertainment CasinoModule brings Microgame closer to more players, more markets and more revenues. The benefits work both ways as expansion of emerging Italian casino markets continues unabated. Gambling in Italy Gambling is the third most profitable industry in Italy and it's all thanks to the liberal regulations in Europe's first regulated pro-gambling country. Italy grants licenses to approved domestic online companies and much of greater Europe is eying the Italian operations with keen interest. Payment Method at Online Casinos

Online casinos are offering an increasing number of payment options for you to fund your online casino account. However, for many, enhanced choice is accompanied by increased confusion. But worry not - Online Casino Reports are here to talk you through your options. What's on Offer? §  First of all you need to establish what payment methods are available. All casinos have these listed on their sites and we list them on each casino's review page, e.g. JackpotCity Casino. §  If you are registering with a new casino, you also need to double check the sign up offer, as this may be based around specific payment options. §  Finally you need to select a payment method that you feel comfortable with. In order to feel at ease you will need to understand exactly what is on offer... so read on! Your Choices §  Credit or Debit Card Credit and debit cards are a fast, easy and secure method of funding your betting account. Most sites ask you to register your credit card on your first deposit but subsequent deposits are then quick and easy. Different sites accept different cards so check to see if yours is listed. Most include a selection of the big names, such as Mastercard, Visa, Diners Club, Maestro and Switch. §  Virtual Credit Card These virtual cards enable you to make secure and instant deposits into your online casino account. They need to be funded by credit or debit cards but the advantage of these is that they make anonymous payments, enhancing your online security. Virtual credit cards can be set up in different currencies so you need to make sure that you align the currency of your virtual credit card with that of your betting account. Examples include Wirecard and Entropay. §  Vouchers Some online casinos accept vouchers. These tend to be casinos which have land based sites or betting shops where the vouchers can be purchased. William Hill is one online casino that accepts vouchers. §  E-wallet/Instant Deposits This is a simple and secure method of making instant deposits into your casino account. E-wallets need to be funded by a credit or debit card. Another option is to arrange for instant bank (or wire) transfers directly from your bank account, so it is worth checking if your bank supports this method. Examples of e-wallets include PayPal, myCitadel, MoneyBookers, NETeller and Click2Pay. §  Prepaid Card Prepaid cards are debit cards into which you deposit funds that you can draw out later for account deposits. Examples of prepaid cards include EcoCard and Ticket Premium. §  Bank Transfer This is the transfer of funds directly from your bank account to your casino account. Transactions can be made via online banking, telephone banking, by a cash deposit at your bank, by a certified check or via a bankers draft. Things to check: Does your preferred payment deliver instant payments, meaning that you can begin betting straight away? How long will withdrawals from your casino account take to action? Does the online casino give preference to particular payment methods? They may have deposit deals or sign up offers that are linked to certain cards or methods. Does the casino you use has a Privacy Policy and will therefore take steps to protect your personal and financial data. Once you have identified the options available you can then take into account the benefits of individual options and settle on the best bet for you.

Another Congressman Backs US Online Casinos

An uplifting read for America's long-suffering online gamblers has been penned by Democratic Rep. Jared Polis. In a strongly-worded article for Roll Call News, the congressman fights for the proposed "Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act." This recently introduced bill would permit and regulate online gambling in the US. Addressing Conservative Fears Polis seizes the opportunity to quash one of the - by now familiar - main arguments of those who oppose the liberalization of internet gambling in the US. He rejects the widely-touted idea that legalization will trigger a pandemic of compulsive gambling and loose morals among North American youth. Republican Rep. Spencer Bachus is just one conservative proponent of the 2006 UIGEA (the online gambling ban), who has - loudly - voiced such concerns. Polis argues that in countries permitting online gambling, widespread gambling obsession and depravity are not the norm. On the contrary, regulatory systems force online casinos to actively prevent underage playing, addiction, money-laundering and cheating. Polis says that these regulations protect consumers more effectively than the UIGEA protects Americans, who are left vulnerable to potentially unscrupulous, off-shore internet casinos. Financial Benefits The nail in the UIGEA coffin, Polis argues, is the fact that the law doesn't prevent Americans spending over $100 billion every year on foreign gambling sites. Furthermore, Polis suggests that the estimated $42 billion per decade in tax revenue to be generated from online gambling should be pumped into programs benefiting American society. The question remains: will the majority of Polis's colleagues agree with him?

World's Largest Casino Set to Recommence

Sands China Ltd is a multi-billion dollar casino being built in the resort of Macau, the only Chinese region which operates legal gambling. But this is not just any casino: it's set to become the world's largest casino. The resort is planned over a site of 13.3 million square feet and will include hotels and shopping malls alongside the main casino. The funding for the project stalled and building work ground to a halt last November, when credit dried up and revenue couldn't keep pace with the expensive demands of the project. Sands are now actively seeking to raise $3.3 billion by shares floatation, in order to recommence work in Macau. Think BIG The site is two thirds completed and current activities to raise revenue could ensure renewed building work as early as January 2010. It is estimated that a labor force of 12,000 will be needed on this massive construction project. The casino is expected to have an astronomical 670 tables and the complex will include two hotels towers, which together will offer 6,000 rooms to gamblers looking for a thrilling, luxury break. Sands Chairman, Sheldon Adelson, sees the current project as part of a wider and more ambitious quest: to turn Macau into a Chinese Las Vegas Strip - with gambling, conference and shopping facilities, alongside the casino, all providing a real draw to tourists. Launch Dates in Sight The projected launch date of the casino and one hotel is June 2011, with the grand opening of the second phase, which encompasses another hotel and a retail complex, planned for December 2011.

Online Gambling Companies Look to the Future

The EU has made it a priority to open up the financial markets of member states to multinational co-operation and free trade. This has had far-reaching implications for the de-regulation of the gaming sector. Powerful economic nations in France, Italy and Spain have all released their stranglehold on state-run lotteries and online gambling related concerns. The ramifications of this are proving to be serendipitous for the online gaming sector which continues to blossom. Open the markets up Italy has welcomed the moves towards legalizing online gaming. The reasons the Italians are so pro-regulation in this industry is that they see the tax benefits of these measures. All three big gaming industries will soon see regulation coming their way - Casino, Bingo and Poker. The French are also powering ahead with their legal measures. Multiple reforms are slated for release by the end of 2010. The biggest change is the end of the state-run monopoly of bookmarker Paris-Mutual Urbain. This is a step in the right direction for opening the markets up, but betting exchanges are still a no-go. The Danes play it cool The most positive development in Europe has come from Denmark. The Danish government has announced a plan to permit free and fair trade between gambling operators from across the continent. Needless to say the European Commission is thrilled with this free-trade atmosphere taking root. There are proposals to circulate the ‘Danish Blueprint' for gaming to other countries in Scandinavia and the European Union for consideration. Two measures are being specifically targeted: Protectionism Legalization of gambling All of these actions are being taken in the spirit of free trade and in compliance with corporate social responsibility standards. It has been noted that the social impact of gambling could prove negative if gambling is legalized, however the positive far outweigh the negatives of an illicit and corrupt black-market gambling operation in any of the EU member states.
