Online Gambling White List Grows by One

In 2008, the UK online gambling market was redrawn on the legislators' table. Only 19 online gambling companies were granted remote gambling licenses by Gibraltar at the time, which, under the then new 2008 Gambling Act, were included on the UK's White List of legit gaming operators. The original list included 888, William Hill and PartyGaming. Welcome the New Member This week mobile gambling company Probability plc has been awarded a similar license for remote gambling by the Government of Gibraltar. The 2 years that have passed show how careful the industry has carried itself since the new law came in place. Probability's chief operating officer has already moved to Gibraltar, ahead of the company's move from Alderney to Gibraltar. Continued Growth Probability has fared well of late, with growth that is expected to benefit from recent legal developments. Total wagers are considerably higher since the iPhone Touch Casino product was released in July. Probability has also launched a dedicated Android application.

Gamblers Fail to Back X Factor Wannabee

She may be hungry for fame and fortune but X Factor's Katie Waissel is yet to receive any wagers at all to win TV's popular talent contest. The hairdresser's receptionist performed 'We are the Champion's' on Saturday's show, sporting unusual headgear that split the judges' opinion. Her performance however failed to set the public alight. Will Hill's Rupert Adams commented, "Punters have got it in for Katie and it would come as no great surprise if she goes at the weekend." Who's up for the Chop? William Hill announced that Waissel is the only act who has failed to receive a single bet to win, whereas she has amassed 83% of all bets on the next contestant to be voted out, attracting odds of 4/1. However Wagner along with duo Diva Fever are also teetering on the edge of elimination according to the bookies. It is expected that this Sunday will see another double elimination cranking up the pressure for first class performances on Saturday night's show. Place Your Bets! Last Sunday Nicolo Festa and boyband FYD were voted off, with Waissel receiving the judges vote to stay. Reality TV betting is one of the latest online gambling trends, attracting many to make weekly bets. The contestants' odds tend to vary each week, depending on how each act performs. William Hill's top three X Factor bets for outright winner are: Aidan Grimshaw 9/2 Matt Cardle 4/1 One Direction 9/2 Poor Katie is at 33/1 to win but incredibly not one person has had the faith in her to place a bet. With a double elimination on the cards this week X Factor fans can put their money where their mouths are and back their favorite to win or their hot tip to be voted off.

Washington Residents Denied Online Poker Access

Residents of the US state of Washington have been denied access to PokerStars, the world's most popular online poker room, in another blow to American poker players. PokerStars announced last Thursday that its Washington users would no longer be allowed play on the poker site because of a recent ruling in the state Supreme Court, which upheld Washington's ban on online gaming. The law was brought in accordance with the federal 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which effectively banned online gaming, giving each state the right to decide what is defined as such. Significance The announcement by PokerStars was historic in that it marked the first time an online gaming site has stopped its players from accessing real-money poker play in a specific US state. Despite this latest setback, efforts by pro-poker lobbyists go on. The Poker Players Alliance announced following the ruling that the fight is by no means over, saying it will continue to pursue other legal and legislative efforts to overturn the law and to license and regulate online poker. Congressman Barney Frank's Online Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act, also known as HR 2267, is not likely to be heard before the 2010 midterm elections, but it remains in play nevertheless, and if it passes would allow online gambling companies to receive licenses in the USA.

Virtue Fusion Adds New Games to Virgin Bingo

Virgin Bingo, part of the Virtue Fusion network, has launched three great new games to its large selection - Fruity Burst, Sacred 7s and Challenge Roulette. Now available on all good bingo sites including William Hill Bingo, the new selection continue Virgin Games' expanding selection of online casino games, which now number well over 200 and provide entertainment to more than one million players. Fruity Burst is an exciting five-reel slot that challenges players to match up the various fruits in a juice glass in order to win prize money. Simply match five or more of the same fruit in either a horizontal or vertical line to cause more symbols to drop down in their place and fill the glass up with juice. Sacred 7s is based on the old-style poker machines. A three reel slot, it operates with the old-school manual holds and nudges that long-time players will find familiar. Prize money is easier to come by - it is achieved by matching up three symbols. Challenge Roulette is slightly different from the other two games, in that it is a community game in which players must obtain the maximum number of chips they can within five rounds. Players can communicate with each other through the chat feature.

Monopoly Makes Comeback as Online Casino Slot

It has been hailed as the most played board game in the world, and now Monopoly can be enjoyed by online video slots players as well, thanks to its introduction by WagerWorks. Based on the classic Parker Brothers game that has entertained at least 500 million people since its introduction in the 1930s, the game features the familiar moustached mascot as well as symbols based on several of the properties from the UK version and on the famous top hat icon. What will most please Monopoly fans is that the slot has retained most of the traditional features from the board game, including community chest, "Go", free parking and jail bonuses. The "Go" bonus is activated by the appearance of three bonus dice symbols on a payline. The game piece then moves around the Monopoly board in a clockwise direction, exactly as in the real version. The slot game continues the growing number of appearances of Monopoly in various cultural guises. Both a movie directed by Ridley Scott and a documentary about the history of the game are expected to be released shortly. Monopoly Slot is available at all good online casinos, including Metro Casino, where it is one of around 50 slots, along with several other hits based on classic games, such as Cluedo.
