How One Casino Player Won 7 Non-Jackpot Slots

One lucky player at Windows online casino has won a hefty total of €31,200 - without even hitting a jackpot. On June 24, Julia M. opened a real money account at Windows, spurred on by a recommendation from Robert N., himself already a big-time slots winner at the same casino. Robert's impressive €30,000 winning streak happened on June 22, when he cashed in on eight slots in just one day. Perhaps Julia wanted to replicate Robert's successful strategy, and that's exactly what she did. Seven Slots and €31,200 later... Julia arguably showed Robert how it's done, by achieving an even higher result on fewer games. Here's how she did it: The Incredible Hulk - starting with bets of €2.50, Julia began cautiously and worked her balance up to allow her to bet €5 each time. Then she moved on to... Kong: The 8th Wonder of the World - Julia must have been thrilled when this slot, only the second she had tried, paid out a major win of €5,000. Penguin Vacation - buoyed by her success, she really mustn't have been able to believe her luck when her winnings climbed by 4 grand to reach €9,000. Bonus Bears - here, Julia shifted gears to serious wagers of €100. This risk paid off, and the slot paid out - this time: €10,250. Fantastic Four - many of us would have taken the money and run by now. Maybe Julia was thinking about it as she dabbled on Fantastic Four and then re-visited Kong, but finally took a chance on... Iron Man 2 - this was Julia's best move of the day; Iron Man 2 paid out €13,500, and she walked away with a grand total of over €31,000. Lessons Learned Julia's strategy has a lot to teach us. Namely, she didn't increase her wagers until she had won something she could afford to lose. Apart from that she has lady luck to thank!

New Partnership Deal for Greater Cooperation

According to a recent announcement, the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has entered into a bilateral cooperation agreement with Denmark's national gaming regulator, the Danish Gambling Authority (DGA), in order to enhance cooperation and information sharing between the authorities. Towards European Gambling This partnership is another example of a growing trend among authorities to strengthen formal cooperation arrangements between European Member States and neighboring open markets. However, the agreement will not be legally binding until the passing of the Danish Gaming Act expected to be later this year. The mission of the AGCC is to ensure and maintain the integrity of the gambling industry in Alderney which is the third largest of the British Channel Islands. In fulfilling this function, the AGCC made headlines recently in June 2011 for suspending the license of Full Tilt Poker. In dramatic fashion, the licenses were pulled following special investigations as part of the US government's crackdown on the online poker industry which has been widely reported on. The Executive Director of AGCC explained that the issues revealed were sufficiently serious to justify the suspension prior to the hearing which is scheduled shortly on July 26, 2011.

Celebs Star as WSOP Main Event Breaks Records

Some 2,809 players took place the WSOP Main Event - which began Monday - and while that was only the third-highest attendance of all time, there was a near-record field of Hollywood stars, athletes and other celebrities among them. Who was there? One of the biggest names to front up on day 1 was hip-hop star Nelly, who was seen alongside New York Times blogger Nate Silver, and poker regulars Shannon Elizabeth of American Pie fame and her fellow actress Jennifer Tilly. Nelly was knocked out, but Elizabeth survived to fight another day. Also seen at Rio Casino in Las Vegas was Paul Pierce, star of the Boston Celtics. Although he might be staring at an NBA lockout this season, at least Pierce can sit safe in the knowledge that he made it to the next stage of the Main Event. Who else might appear? Poker's largest annual event is a big draw-card, and in the past has drawn such big names as Jason Alexander, Ray Romano and Hank Azaria of The Simpsons, along with sporting legends such as former Cowboys running back Emmit Smith, Aussie cricket and 888 legend Shane Warne, and ex-Aussie boxing champ Jeff Fenech. With plenty more big names in both the worlds of poker and elsewhere, there is a lot to look forward to with the rest of the World Series of Poker.

UK Online Gambling White List No more

The UK will make changes to its online gambling laws, replacing the "White List" system, which recognized licenses granted by certain jurisdictions as if issued by the UK, with its own requirements for licenses. Economic Development Minister, the UK official responsible for gambling, John Penrose, has announced today. Sweeping Changes In news that follows the recent US crackdown on online poker sites and the subsequent suspension of Full Tilt Poker's license by Alderney (a "White Listed" jurisdiction), it was clear for quite some time that the UK will make changes to its remote gambling laws. The changes could not be more fundamental, or "sweeping" as they are referred to across the internet, forcing companies accessing the UK gambling market to apply for a UK license. White List The current system allows operators licensed in the European Economic Area (EEA) as well as in jurisdictions that the UK Gambling Commission "white listed" (recognized as legit) to sere UK consumers. The new system that will replace it is similar to those established in France and Italy, countries that do not settle for any offshore license, and instead require domestic licenses. All about Protection, and Taxes The changes are intended to bring greater protection for British consumers using overseas operators. With these changes, UK players will not have to deal with licenses in foreign languages. It will also assist local companies, which must compete with foreign companies that do not pay similar taxes. As Mr Penrose said in his statement: "Overseas competitors benefit from access to the market in Great Britain without bearing a fair share of the costs of regulation, or of research, education and treatment of problem gambling." Gambling Commission Calls from the right (the Conservative MP Matthew Hancock, for one) have even demanded all gambling companies to operate from within the UK, but that is less likely to happen. Instead, the Gambling Commission will have to slowly replace the White List, while still respecting legitimate jurisdictions and operators.
