It's been a busy last few weeks for the United Kingdom's largest bookmaker. In what many consider a groundbreaking move, the Nevada Gaming Commission recently granted William Hill PLC non-restricted gaming licenses - the highest level of licensing in Nevada - making the 78-year-old organization the first British bookmaker to be licensed for sports betting in the US. Deals EnsueShortly thereafter, the British bookmaker announced that it had completed the acquisition of three land-based sports betting companies: American Wagering, Inc., Brandywine Bookmaking, and the Club Cal Neva. The $55 million deal was contingent on William Hill's being granted the license by the Nevada Gaming Commission. The three companies operate more than half of the state's race and sports books. William Hill would thus now operate 159 locations statewide, including 83 wagering kiosks.
