In one of the biggest news for January's transfer window, it has become known that Newcastle has struck a deal with French Ligue 1 Champions Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of midfielder Yohan Cabaye. News of the deal came just a day after the 28-year old Cabaye pleaded with Newcastle to let him join the Parisian team. One of Cabaye's reasons was that he desired to compete in the Champions League and that is something Newcastle boss Alan Pardew admitted he could not offer him. The first bid made by PSG and rejected by Newcastle last summer stood at £14m and the fee on which both teams settled is believed to be much higher, around the £23m mark. Yohan Cabaye has scored seven goals in 20 appearances for the Magpies this season, and his absence will surely be felt. Commenting on how Newcastle will deal with the absence of Cabaye, boss Pardew said: "We'd need to bring someone in for sure. You can't lose a player of that quality and not replace him."
