Wynn Macau plans to sell off 25% of its Macau assets in upcoming months. The move is designed to raise a staggering $1.63 billion in the short term. But there's more to this story than meets the eye. Cash Now The short and bittersweet of it is that Wynn is facing declining consumer confidence in its US brand. In the latest NASDAQ reports, Wynn's share price is hovering at its lowest point. The share price is currently around 68.680, just a fraction higher than its lowest-ever point of 67.900. The 52-week return on WYNN:US Wynn Resorts Ltd is at -22.987%. Future Plans The casino giant is eager to prop up its US based operations by selling off some 25% of Macau assets. But the company is hardly in dire straits. The move to generate working capital comes hot on the heels of Wynn's strategic perspective. Wynn is confident that China will relax restrictions on travel to Macau - the world's leading gambling destination. If that happens, then Wynn is going to reap windfall returns on their Asian asset portfolio. Indeed the same thing happened for Galaxy Entertainment and Melco International Development Ltd. They realized a doubling of their share price in 2009. There are several unknown variables in the mix, such as the supply of gaming tables and the government's visa policy. Interest is high Wynn's lucrative Asian operation is expected to fix the share price on October 1. Trading will commence around 1128 to debut by October 9. Six cornerstone investors have already pledged to buy up to $250 million of the shares.
With the first UEFA Champions League match day already behind us, reigning champions Barcelona have firmed to 4/1 favoritism at most online bookmakers, followed closely by arch-rivals Real Madrid at 9/2. But the bets don't stop there, and it's worth shopping around at the various bookmakers to see what specials are on offer. Ladbrokes currently has Manchester United as an equal-third 5/1 chance to lift the Champions League trophy, but for the ambitious punter it is also offering a whole range of trophy combinations for the Red Devils in 2009/10. United are 12/1 to win the Champions League/Premier League double and 40/1 to repeat the famous treble of 2000, when it became champion of England and Europe and also won the FA Cup. The odds of United winning an unprecedented quadruple by also winning the Carling Cup, a tournament it does not put great effort into, are a long-shot 150/1. William Hill Sports has some enticing odds on the Champions League's top goalscorer. Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is predictably the betting favorite at 4/1, but he is followed closely by VfL Wolfsburg's Brazilian striker Grafite, 8/1, Barcelona's Lionel Messi, 9/1, and Liverpool's Fernando Torres and Chelsea's Nicolas Anelka, 10/1. At Paddy Power, one can try their hand at predicting the group winner. Group A is shaping up as the closest one to call. Bayern Munich is 8/13, Juventus is 9/4 and Girondins de Bordeaux is 9/2 to upset their more highly-fancied rivals. Only Maccabi Haifa, 150/1, is out of the picture.
Bwin Interactive Entertainment announced last week that it will acquire Gioco Digitale, Italy's leading online poker and gaming operator. Gioco Digitale generated a total income of 20.1 million Euros ($29.4m) in the first half of 2009, well up on 2008, when it generated 13.7 million Euros ($20.1m). The deal represents a significant gain for the powerful Austrian-based online gambling company, which has long set its sights on Italy. Last January, Bwin became the first operator to receive permission from Italy's gambling regulatory authority to offer real-money skill games such as solitaire, blackjack, three-card poker, backgammon and eight-ball billiard. Bwin, which was established in 1999, already had a large presence in Italy due to its sponsorship of soccer powerhouse AC Milan. Italy is one of the most lucrative gambling markets in the European Union. The value of bets in Italy rose 10.8 percent in the first half of 2009, compared to the same period the previous year, reaching a total of 26.3 billion Euros ($38.5b). American online casinos are now accepting deposits via a new method that requires customers only to have a landline telephone connection. 900Pay allows users to pay and receive online gaming payments through their phone bill. The service is currently only available for US users with US dollar bank accounts. Online gambling giant Bodog is among the companies to already accept this payment method. Deposits of up to $5000 can be made into online casino accounts using the 900Pay service, although some gambling sites require purchases via 900Pay to be made through an e-wallet express account. The new method is an innovation of Navaho Networks, a Canada-based software and technology services company that works principally in the online gaming industry for customers in both the United States and Canada.
Poker legend Doyle Brunson has revealed that two women will be signed on in 2010 to play alongside 10 men as part of "The Brunson 10," his new campaign to find poker's next generation of stars. Brunson made the revelation during an interview with APCW's J Todd on the sidelines of the Budapest Affiliate Conference last week. The 10-time WSOP champion told Todd that three players had already been signed up, and that there was a long list of people to choose from to fill the remaining spots. "We decided to go out and get the best young Internet players that we could find, and actually their character has got a lot to do with it, because Doylesroom tries to give the image of respectability and integrity," he said. Brunson and Todd also discussed Doylesroom's new online casino, which can be accessed with the same account customers use to play online poker. Finally, Doyle revealed that his autobiography, which has been five years in the making, is set to be released in November, just in time for the Christmas shopping period. "There's actually some thing that I'm not too proud of that went on in my life, it's kind of a private thing," Brunson revealed. "It's a pretty accurate description of my poker life at least, where I came from and what I did and what happened to get me into the poker world." Although written by an old college friend of Brunson's who went on to become an award winning journalist for the Associated Press, the book is all Brunson's own story.
The Hungarians have found a surprising solution to the ongoing global financial crisis, by playing online poker to make a living, Reuters has reported. Focusing on a recent college graduate named Peter Traply who has chosen not to join the long and often frustrating search for a job, the report said that he had already earned more than $530,000 at poker tables abroad and online. According to the report, there are many more Hungarians like Traply. It quoted statistics from the Poker Association of Hungary that show that some 50,000 Hungarians play poker live, and another 200,000 play online. Overall, that amounts to one out of every 40 Hungarians playing poker. And with Hungary's unemployment rate hitting almost 10 percent for the first time since 1996, the poker association sees many more Hungarians following in Traply's footsteps. "Online, you can start with a few hundred dollars and if you are good, you can make as much as $10,000 per month in a year or two," association chief Gergely Tatar was quoted by Reuters as saying. Naturally, in this view, online poker bonuses help even more. Such an income would no doubt be enticing to people in the eastern European nation, where the average monthly income is a lowly $640. At Online Casino Reports Hungary players are invited to find more information on online poker and online gambling in general.
What do punters like almost as much as the thrill of a bet? The answer is talking about it! The popularity of online casino chat rooms and forums is testament to the desire of gamblers to talk to like-minded people. But what exactly are they talking about? Hot Topics Trawling through various industry forums, most have strikingly similar areas of discussion. Many use forums to find out about online casinos, asking members about their experiences, including the payment timescales or any free casino bonuses. Others use the game-specific threads within forums to discuss the tips and strategies for particular games, hoping to glean a snippet or two of useful advice. Some post up their frustrations after a fruitless day or, conversely, to celebrate their success. Similarity between discussion topics was not the only thing various forums had in common: it's evident that participants enjoy being part of an online community and many form online friendships; the banter was flowing in many of the posts, including in-jokes and the odd rude, lewd comment. One forum held a poll, asking how punters gained the trust of new sites. Ahead of licensing, software and past history, the biggest single influence on whether a player trusted a new casino or not was the opinion of other players. Serving a Dual Purpose Not only do forums provide a valuable outlet for members to obtain information, advice and friendship but they also serve as a sounding board to the industry itself - reflecting the things that drive their customer base to exalt or despair. Most online casinos utilize forums in one way or another, perhaps posting up comments, questions or polls to gauge players' opinions. This useful interaction can only support casinos to continuously improve and respond to customer feedback. So, three cheers for online casino forums and chat rooms - they serve a dual purpose in keeping both the casino and players informed and happy.
Here at Online Casino Reports we are always interested in the latest gambling trends. With mobile gambling being the new media around, we decided to ask our friends at Jackpot City, about the handsets being used by their punters. Jackpot City, along with many other online casinos that have broadened out to the mobile world, have a handy handset compatibility feature on their casino. This is quick and simple to use and enables you to check out whether your phone is suitable for their mobile casino software. Once you have established that your handset is compatible, you are then a few simple steps away from receiving the software and placing your first mobile bet. We were curious to find out which handsets were the most popular among Jackpot City customers, so here, in no particular order, are the ten handsets proving most popular with punters. Nokia 6300 Nokia 5800 Nokia N95 LG KP500 Sony Ericsson W580i Samsung J700 Sony Ericsson W910i LG KS360-Teleca Nokia N73 Jackpot City also offers iPhone software, which is increasingly gaining ground in the mobile telecoms and mobile gaming markets. There are an increasing number of casinos ‘going mobile' and an ever improving range of games on offer. Added to this, handsets are becoming more sophisticated, opening up the world of mobile gambling to a growing number of players. With the ability to place a bet where and when they want to, mobile gamers are making the most of their ‘dead time' and are having a blast while stuck in traffic, waiting for the train or livening up an otherwise lackluster lunch.
