A group of mystery investors involved in ongoing negotiations with representatives of Full Tilt Poker are interested only in purchasing the struggling online poker giant's UK and Irish holdings and European licenses. Details of the purchase offer come on the eve of today's scheduled hearing over the poker site's license suspended by Alderney. Full Tilt's Fate The Alderney Gambling Control Commission was set to chair a public hearing in London Tuesday to decide on what will happen to Full Tilt Poker, whose fate has been uncertain since the events of Black Friday in the US in April. Full Tilt's UK licenses were suspended by Alderney on June 29 following the indictment of the company by US prosecutors on April 15, and the site was required to suspend all operations from the jurisdiction immediately. Purchase of Assets Just days before the public hearing internet gambling publication eGaming Review revealed a potential purchase of Full Tilt assets had nothing to do with its operations in the United States, but rather were directed at the British and Irish brand. A source told the publication that the purchase of parts of the Full Tilt brand that was being negotiated would include the family of companies in the UK and Ireland, including Dublin-based marketing company Pocket Kings, and licenses held in Alderney, the most northern of the Channel Islands.
The Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) hearing for Full Tilt Poker was held at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel in London yesterday, July 26, 2011. Full Tilt Poker's lawyer asked for a private discussion, citing commercial sensitivity as potential investors show interest in the poker site. The committee accepted the argument and moved the hearing indoors to be held in private. It was revealed in the hearing that Full Tilt Poker owes the AGCC around £250,000 in licensing fees. The Outcome In the interests of justice and those of Full Tilt customers, the meeting was adjourned with the intention to resume again at a later day, no later than September 15. The decision gives Full Tilt time to pursue and possibly complete a deal with an investor, with whom they may or may not be in negotiations, which could result in a better outcome for the players.
