The plight for online poker regulation in California has received a very important boost last week with the extension of a partnership between the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians tribe and Canadian software developer Amaya Gaming. Amaya is the new owner and operator of the major online poker room PokerStars. Pro Online Poker Coalition Strengthening The San Manuels joined an existing business agreement between Amaya Gaming, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and three of California's largest poker rooms – the Bicycle Casino, the Hawaiian Gardens and the Commerce Club. Under the agreement, these operators will operate a joint online poker website and to achieve that end, they will work together to bring online poker regulation in the Golden State. The move by the San Manuels is significant since the tribe defected from a tribal coalition against online poker regulation in California. The tribal coalition consisted of 13 tribes and it had set its sights on PokerStars under a demand that the operator will be deemed a "bad actor" in any future legislation of online poker in California, something that would effectively keep PokerStars out of the market. Door Might Open for Other Tribes The San Manuels were a part of the tribal anti online poker coalition but now they've switched sides standing alongside Amaya, Morongo Band of Mission Indians and the three major poker rooms. This could turn the tide for other tribes as we near December when an online poker bill for the Garden State will be introduced. Speaking about the move, San Manuel chairwoman Lynn Valbuena said: "We are convinced that the various interests must work together if we are to be successful in establishing a well-regulated environment and the best-in-class Internet poker industry for California." Morongo chairman Robert Martin claimed that the joining of the San Manuels marks "a new day in the efforts to authorize online poker in California."

In an interesting development, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has taken a stand on a topic professional sports in America traditionally stay as far away from as possible: legalized sports betting. Legal Sports Betting Inevitable Instead of castigating it or avoiding it as a taboo subject according to the tradition of professional sports leaders, Silver was quoted as considering it “inevitable” that sports betting could be legalized. In a new op-ed for the New York Times, Silver has now gone so far as to support legalized gambling nationwide. Among other things, Silver wrote that “...despite legal restrictions, sports betting is widespread.” In acknowledging the existence of a known yet undocumented activity, he also quoted estimates of “nearly $400 billion...illegally wagered on sports each year.” Advanced Countries Bet on Sports At this point, sports betting is legal in other advanced countries such as England, where sports bets can be placed in formats as easily accessible as smartphones and mobile tablets, stadium kiosks or television remote controls. Regulation in the US would include such mandatory components as monitoring and reporting of unusual betting-line movements; a protocol for license issuing ensuring legitimacy and compliance of betting operators; measures to confirm minimum-age requirements; so-called geo-blocking technology which ensures the availability of betting only in legal regions; filtering mechanisms which would identify and ultimately exclude those exhibiting gambling issues such as addiction or compulsion; and education about responsible gaming posted at relevant online web providers. Wagering Already Legitimized by American Sports Leagues Those who might say that gambling is impure, or corruptive per se are not taking into account the fact that people wager on sports all the time, with each other or via legal or illegal gambling providers. Fantasy leagues that cost money to join and pay off bonuses to winners are also borderline cases of sports betting ready, because people are wagering on the performance of players they draft to their fantasy leagues in order to win money from their team's success. The fact is the NFL and Major Leagues baseball already endorse fantasy leagues, and the National Hockey League is seeking to expand a team into Las Vegas. These are types of gambling that do or will take place despite sports betting being stigmatized according to those league's public policy stance. Silver's honesty is a shift from that, and a huge step towards legal sports betting. The model for a compliant system with integrity is the task of regulation that the states and federal Congress are faced with.

Last month, leading online casino software provider Net Entertainment announced that it will remove eight casino games from its portfolio and replace them with a brand new slots game. The move mostly focused on old jackpot titles from its list and included games like Cash Bomb, Vault Assault, Gold Rush and Fishy Fortune. These games and a few more are now no longer available at NetEnt-powered online casino as the software developer is looking to keep its selection of games fresh and also not too crowded. The good news for Net Entertainment fans is that the new slot which will look to replace these 8 games will be made available next week and it will feature five jackpots, three of which are progressive. Cosmic Fortune Coming on November 24 The main feature of the upcoming slot game Cosmic Fortune is that it has different levels of progressives that will make sure that players are constantly winning. The five jackpots range from Rapid to Mega and while the smallest one will be worth just a few hundred euros, the big one will start at an impressive six-figure prize and each of them will continue to grow with every bet until they are won. Overall, Cosmic Fortune has an average return rate to the player of 96.9% that puts it in a great position for players and makes it one of the highest paying slots from Net Entertainment. Retro Theme Meets Modern Graphics The theme of Cosmic Fortune will likely appeal to different types of players as it takes elements from retro gaming options and offers them in state-of-the-art gameplay. Even the jackpot will be awarded in a unique way which is based on an old Japanese pinball game by the name of Pachinko. BETAT Casino will be among the first websites to feature the new slot game as soon as it launches next week.
Former Republican congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul has spoken out against the efforts to outlaw online gambling as a whole in the US. In a weekly column in the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity website, the former presidential candidate centered his criticism against casino mogul Sheldon Adelson who spearheads the fight against online gambling. A Manifestation of Crony Capitalism Paul begins his column stating that regardless of ideology, most Americans oppose what he calls "crony capitalism" – a situation in which politicians write laws in order to support their business beneficiaries. Paul claims that a concrete case of such cronyism can be found in a subject the US congress might vote on soon, that is legislation outlawing internet gambling. According to Paul, this legislation is being considered as a favor to Sheldon Adelson. Outlawing Not the Answer "Some proponents of internet gambling ban say that legalized online casinos will enrich criminals or even terrorists, but criminalizing online casinos will not eliminate the demand for online casinos," says Paul, continuing to claim that the opposition to iGaming in America is not about morality but about whether Americans who do gamble have the choice to do it online or are forced to visit brick and mortar casinos. Paul asserts that an iGaming ban is a blatantly unconstitutional infringement on liberties of American people, something which could lead to a surveillance state. "Worst of all, it is all being done for the benefit of one powerful billionaire," concludes Paul. No RAWA House Hearing The efforts to ban iGaming in the USA are also tied to the "Restoration of Americas Wire Act" bill (RAWA). This bill which proposes the prohibition of all internet gambling was feared to be slipped through the House Judiciary Committee in a similar fashion to that of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (UIGEA). The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) reported there will be no hearing for the RAWA bill during the current lame duck session, however the bill might be tagged onto unrelated legislation like the UIGEA did back in 2006, warned the PPA's John Pappas.
Rafael Nadal has beaten Brazil's legendary past footballer Ronaldo in a poker game once again. London's landmark Hippodrome Casino was the venue for the colorful meeting between the two sporting legends on Tuesday night, a charity poker game organized by major online poker room PokerStars. The duel was a rematch after Nadal accepted a challenge by Ronaldo in September. The two met for the first time last December in Prague, part of the European Poker Tour Prague Charity Challenge. This game saw Nadal beating not only Ronaldo but also Daniel Negreanu, one of the world's top poker players. Nadal's Hand Following a quick 20 minutes session, the Spanish 14-time Grand Slam champion got the upper hand in the game and won the $50,000 prize which will go to the Rafa Nadal Foundation for children and teenagers at risk. Following the game the dominating Nadal said: "It was close for most of the match and I’m delighted to have won. I called all-in at the final hand, which proved to be a good move! Ronaldo is a football great and it’s amazing for me to have the opportunity to face him at the poker table. I’m happy for a rematch if Ronaldo is up to the challenge". Nadal also spoke about the similarities between poker and tennis: "In poker, you need self-control, the ability to analyse your opponent and read the game to know when to go for it, a strategy that is not too dissimilar to tennis." Neymar Next? Ronaldo took the loss in a sportive manner, praising Nadal's game and analysing his mistake of going all-in at the end with a bluff. "Sometimes you have to be bold in poker, and even though it didn’t work out this time, I had fun" concluded the Brazilian legend. While Ronaldo did not reply to Nadal's mention of another rematch, he did say that he would like to play against his fellow countryman and footballer Neymar.
It was the worst news that fans of Maccabi Electra could have heard - their beloved Captain, Guy Pnini, most likely sidelined for a few weeks if not months due to Achilles surgery. He was rushed off the court after only the first few minutes of the team’s Israeli League game on Monday night, only to undergo surgery the following day. Usually injuries of this nature require a lot of time to heal but in the meantime, Maccabi needs to hold on and win their Euroleague games. Live at 19:45 Last time that Maccabi faced Limoges, it was the season opener and Maccabi crushed the young French team 92-76. Limoges has not played very well this season, only winning one game in Week 2 against Cedevita Zagreb, a team that beat Maccabi Electra in Week 4 by ten points. Limoges have a glimmer of hope tonight, albeit due to a serious injury on their opponent’s side, but they will still need to play their best basketball in order to beat the Israeli side. Tale of the Tape It has been fifteen years since Maccabi has lost to a French team. That statistic should strike fear into the eyes of Limoges roster and head coach Jean-Marc Dupraz. Leo Westermann and Pape Philippe Amagou will need to play a solid game defensively against Jeremy Pargo, Yogev Oyahon and Marquez Haynes, sharing the Point Guard duties for Electra. Trent Plaisted, JP Batista and Adrien Moerman have the task of defending Tel Aviv’s big men, which will be no easy task, but with the correct strategy they could win. The game tonight will be a solid, intense battle at Beaublanc stadium and should be a game to watch. Live bet365 Sports Online Markets The famed UK Sportsbook bet365 is offering a number of attractive online betting markets for tonight’s game, and even with their Captain injured, Maccabi are the favorites at 1.50, while Limoges trail at 2.65. Those odds are part of a long list of markets for punters to take advantage of including Winning Margin, Double Result, Odd/Even game totals and much more.
