Atletico Madrid and Villarreal are almost certain to play in the Champions League next season, but both teams have higher expectations. The hosts are secretly hoping to snatch the title from Barcelona and Real, while the visitors try to secure direct qualification to the most prestigious European competition. Tough Games Ahead for Atletico Madrid The home side has the best defensive in the Spanish first division, allowing just 11 goals overall and 6 in front of their fans. Confidence is at high levels but Atletico Madrid can’t afford to take this match likely because Villarreal is deadly on counterattacks. They are also known for making each goal count and it is hard to win a game if you allow them to take the lead. Atletico Madrid is also trying to make a deep run in the Champions League and players can consider themselves lucky to be pit against PSV. Winning on the road would greatly simplify their mission and that’s why resources need to be smartly divided ahead of Tuesday’s clash. Just a couple of days later, Atletico Madrid takes on its city rival at Bernabeu, in a match they can’t afford to lose. Few Goals Scored by Villarreal The visitors haven’t lost a match in La Liga since November 2015, but they were unable to win back-to-back games recently. The lack of success is the direct consequence of Villarreal having a hard time scoring goals both at home and on the road. The starting formation featuring just two strikers doesn’t help either but manager Marcelino will stick to it for this match. Even though the stakes are not as high in Europa League, Villarreal is one of the teams taking this competition very seriously. They will take on Napoli on Thursday after facing them just a couple of days ago and the Italians are a hard nut to crack. Everything suggests a low-scoring match, so odds of 3/5 offered by bet365 Sports on the Under 2.5 goals market are fully justified.
2015 has been a great year for the Spanish Internet gambling market, with the national gambling regulator posting some great numbers. Apparently the market grew by 26% in the last year and the gross gaming revenue now exceeds €300 million. Players have responded positively to the products offered by online casinos; some of the most popular destinations among Spaniards are major brands like bet365 Casino, 888 Casino and Rich Casino. Sports Betting Leads the Way With an increase of nearly 50% compared to the previous year, sports betting is the main catalyst for gambling operators in terms of income. It is hardly a surprise given the sheer strength of La Liga and the tremendous success of Spanish teams in European competitions. The numbers speak for themselves as this niche has generated nearly $180 million in overall revenue in 2015. If we are to look strictly at percentages, then the Internet slots market is the crown jewel of the gaming industry with a surge of 80%. It now stands at €67 million and is poised for growth in 2016, especially if more online casinos will enter the market by the end of the year. Bad News for Poker and Bingo Fans In this overly optimistic climate, it is worth mentioning the fact that poker revenue fell to less than €60 million and the bingo market dropped sharply. It now stands at €7.8 million, but with the sports book and casino revenue climbing to unprecedented highs, this dip went unnoticed. There is still reason for optimism among poker players as Spanish authorities could open the doors and allow shared liquidity on Internet poker sites. In a format similar to the gaming compacts in the US, French and Spanish players could use the same poker rooms to play their favorite games. The French gaming regulator suggested an amendment that could make this a reality and ring-fenced sites from Italy and Portuguese could also tag along.

Tonight at 19:45, Manchester United will travel to Shrewsbury Town to take on the Shrews at New Meadow. The Shrews have been a surprise story, making it to the fifth round after beating Sheffield in the last round of action. Tonight, they will undoubtedly face the hardest contest they have had to overcome, as United is coming to town. United will be short their goalkeeper, with David de Gea hurting his knee after the embarrassing loss to Midtjylland in the Europa League last Tuesday. There is now a total of 14 players on the United injured list, which could lead to even more deterioration in all of Manchester's competitions. Wayne Rooney is one of those on the injured list, and to add insult to injury, former Man. U player Larnell Cole will be getting the start for Shrewbury tonight. Shrewsbury manager Micky Mellon is confident his squad can surprise Manchester, as they almost did to Chelsea last year: "We will give it our best go and we won't be overawed." Team Facts Shrewsbury FC Shrewsbury are not playing well at home at the moment and they have lost their last four of five matches at New Meadow. The only victory they had, which came at exactly the right time was against Sheffield in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Acting as a Cinderella story, Shrewsbury have beaten teams from the Premier League in both of the last FA Cup rounds, led by excellent play in the second half of those matches. Manchester United In an unprecedented turn of events for United, they have won only five of their last 18 matches in all competitions. Although they are loathing their Premier League season, United have won their FA Cup matches against Derby in the fourth and Sheffield United in the third rounds. FA Cup Online Sports Betting Even with a ton of players injured, bet365 Sports still has Manchester United at 1.40 to win, while Shrewsbury comes in at 8.50. This match could end in a draw (5.25), which would require a second match to see who moves on to the next round.
California State Representative Adam Gray has once again introduced a bill that would see the regulation of online poker. This is approximately the 12th bill introduced over the past nine years in attempt to regulate online gambling in the Golden State. Gray issued another bill in April of 2015, AB-431, which was not passed due to minority opposition as well as tribal disagreements. His new bill, AB-2863, is an amended version of his previous bill, and the two are similar but contain some key differences. Comparing the new and old bill In Gray's new bill, California’s racetracks would not participate in California’s regulated online poker market - in return, they would receive as much as $60 million annually, taken from the state’s poker revenues. This amendment isimportant , because it seeks to mollify the tribal factions that insist on exclusivity over most of California’s potential online gambling market. Another amendment is the elimination of the “bad actors” clause, which was included in the original bill in order to prevent certain operators from being allowed to offer gambling services. These operators are those who continued to offer online gambling after the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was passed in 2006. In Gray’s new bill, the “bad actors” clause is left out and replaced by a general statement that suitable operators will need to be approved by state regulators. Both the new and old bill contain a clause that would make playing poker on unlicensed, out-of-state of offshore sites a felony, something which has never been illegal in California. Players are not likely to be happy with this inclusion, but if the state offers enough quality, regulated sites, it shouldn’t be a problem. The long road to regulation The biggest obstacle, as of now, are the tribal factions, and whether they will agree to what is being offered. The good news on that front is that the Rincon Band of Luiseno Indians has already issued a statement in support of Gray’s amended bill. As of now, a hearing for the bill has not yet been scheduled.

La Liga league leaders, Barcelona, are at the Emirates this evening in hopes of crushing Arsenal in the first leg of their Round of 16 matches. The visitors have been rolling on a stretch of 32 games without a single loss, since back in October 2015 in all competitions. The defending Champions League Champions are huge favorites to run away with the title again this year, and with teams as inconsistent as Arsenal, it could be easier to attain than they think. For the past five years, Arsenal has been knocked out of the Champions League in this very stage. The curse of the round of 16 weighs as heavy as the curse of being left with a 10-man squad, as the Gunners have had someone sent off in virtually all matches against the Blaugrauna. Arsene Wenger is the first person to say how good Barcelona really are and what a huge task his team faces tonight. One of the most interesting matchups tonight will be between Lionel Messi and Petr Cech. The reigning Ballon d’Or winner has never been able to score on Cech, but with the help of Suarez and Neymar, the goalkeeper will undoubtedly be under heavy fire regularly tonight. Suarez, Messi and Neymar have 91 goals altogether. Suarez is the top Barca scorer with 41, including 4 hat-ticks and 1 quadruple. In fact, the entire Barcelona roster should instill fear into any opponent with name like Pique, Rakitic, Alves and Iniesta. The Gunners’ woes will carry on until the second leg of the round of 16, as they face United, Swansea, Tottenham, Hull and West Brom over the next 14-days prior to a trip to Camp Nou to finish this saga. Maximize Profits with Online Wager It is quite tempting to put heavy cash on the Gunners ahead of the match tonight, as bet365 has them listed at 5.00. A victory could very well be in Barcelona’s immediate future at 1.72, but this match could very well end in a draw (4.00). There are dozens of Props Bets available and bet365 will as always be offering live in play lines throughout the match. Risk-free In-play Bet at bet365 Sports bet365 Sports will be offering a risk-free in-play bet on the same stake for this exciting match. Punters are required to place one pre-match bet before kickoff and to place an in-play bet when the game gets underway. In case the first in-play bet placed is lost, the biggest pre-match bet will be refunded by bet365 (up to $50 currency equivalent). Mr. Green's online gaming gains for 2015 are sparking the launch of a new sportsbook service. Strong 2015 the Reason The decision comes on the spurs of the robust total reeled in for the fourth quarter and the calendar year ending December 31, 2015. Gambling operations revenues, referred to by the company as Quarterly revenue or game win, showed a 15% year-on-year gain to reach SEK201.1 million. The increase is up from the SEK174.8 million posted for the same period last year. EBITDA also rose substantially, 71.2% to SEK29 million. This is the kind of growth and gain which facilitates entry into a new sector. For Mr Green, the ideal sector is sportsbetting, which is common if not necessary complement to gaming for all large operators these days. Recovery to Boot Strong recovery is also another component of effective expansion into a new sector, with optimism promised by the EBIT Q4 total of SEK16.8, a huge turnaround from the negative SEK110.4 million reported for the fourth quarter of 2014. Full-year game win jumped over a fifth year-on-year, from SEK659 million in 2014 to SEK792.6 million in 2015. EBITDA progressed positively to SEK136.8 million. Expansion into the sportsbook should offset some of the EBIT negative of SEK36 million for 2015, compared to the negative of SEK31.2 million in 2014. CEO Credits Online Casino Growth Mr. Green CEO Per Norman said that the company's online casino growth yielded enough revenue increase in 2015 to spur expansion into a sportsbook product for 2016. With Mr. Green so popular to its customers, and with so many of those customers already betting on sports elsewhere, the move comes off as all the more logical, appropriate, and timely. Sign of the Times The fact is, any prominent operator that exclusively offers either sports betting or online gambling is losing out on the potential dual patronage of their biggest customers. Look for more operators to follow suit and expand to both sectors this year.
