As to be expected, sports lottery sales have spiked during the World Cup. In China, a massive sports betting market, the biggest online operators have taken to extreme measures to gain a foothold in the rapidly expanding market of mobile payment. Tencent Blocks Alibaba Through QQ For instance, in one end around maneuver, the QQ Lottery, sold under Chinese internet giant Tencent's hit QQ instant messaging service, announced a temporary blocking of Alipay, an e-payment system owned by Tencent rival Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. This imposed “blockage” serves to prevent QQ social media users from using Alipay service for their QQ Lottery betting accounts. Tencent justified the blockage publicly by claiming that Alipay had inferior service, taking too long to transfer funds to accounts, particularly during this high volume period of World Cup lotteries and betting. Tencent Scrambling for Cover The real issue is that Tencent's leading Chinese internet company is in danger, with Alibaba set to proffer a record-setting initial public stock offering in August. In the same statement, Tencent further “reassured” the public that to top off their betting accounts, they can still continue to use Tenpay, which is the e-payment system owned by Tencent; or WeChat, Tencent's already established app for mobile messaging. Whew, what a relief! In all “fairness,” Tencent did promise to reopen Alipay access to its users once the so-called bug was fixed, to the utter skepticism of experts who doubt the possibility for widespread malfunctions in highly established payment tools. Alipay Non-response Alipay denied the validity of Tencent's statement that Alipay was "endangering users' experience" in any way. Beyond that, Alipay refused to respond to the transparent message. Battle for Public Trust As owners of interests in the booming lottery sales and mobile payment markets, the battleground of public opinion is becoming more and more valuable, as trust in the eyes of the public will heavily influence where users decide to place their bets as well as send their personal mobile communications. The Results? This round seems to favor Alibaba, as Tencent appears to be resorting to desperate measures, appearing fearful and insecure in the wake of Alibaba's imminent public opening.

Swedish online casino software developer Net Entertainment has announced the release of its newest game: The Wish Master. Specs The Wish Master is a 5-reel, 20 payline video slot which themes itself on the wish granting Genie made famous in the Aladdin stories and movies, who grants three wishes to anyone who rubs the oil lamp in which he resides. The Wish Master's genie is nothing like friendly looking blue one from Aladdin, as he is depicted much more like how he's described in Islamic mythology. The slot's symbols consist of various animals adorned with diamonds including cats, vipers, scorpions and falcons alongside the traditional jacks, aces and queens symbols. Wilds and scatters are also part of the game, working to boost players' wins. The game introduces a feature inventory which stores helpful symbols that are put in place when players need them. Wish Master Feature The slot's highlight is the Wish Master Feature which is triggered every time players land scatter symbols. When this occurs, the genie is unleashed from his lamp, offering players a "wish" in the form of different win-inducing bonuses like expanding wilds, mutlipliers and other random goodies. Another ability the Wish Master holds is turning entire reels into wilds. The Wish Master top payout is 900,000 coins. Available Now Commenting on the release of the new game, NetEnt's Chief Product Officer Simon Hammon said: "The Wish Master builds on our portfolio of cutting edge video slots. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is second to none and we’re confident our customers and their players will enjoy the game play experience." The Wish Master video slot is available now for fun and real money play across online casinos powered by NetEnt.
The US Supreme Court has thrown out an appeal by New Jersey State Governor Chris Christie to revive the state's sports wagering law. Consistent with Original Federal Ban The written decision specifically communicated the court's refusal to review last year's ruling barring the State of New Jersey from offering sports bets, as consistent with a 1992 federal law that first instituted the state ban across all states except Nevada, the lone state offering sports betting at the time of the law's introduction. Claim of Unconstitutionality Rejected The grounds for New Jersey's appeal was based on the claim that the federal law was unconstitutional, the argument rejected by the appeals court. A previous public referendum on sports betting in New Jersey in 2011 that came to the same conclusion resulted in the allowance of some sports betting with restrictions. The claim of unconstitutionality of the federal sports-betting ban on states was based on the argument of Christie that the law was an intrusion on states' rights and represented unequal treatment of states, provoking a swarm of legal opposition to his appeal from private and public groups in America including the National Football League (NFL) and the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The Integrity of the Game The fundamental argument against Christie's appeal for state-sponsored gambling was the threat to the integrity of the games. The Obama Administration publicly backed the leagues' claims, and the Supreme Court has now concurred. This appeal exhausts Christie's legal avenues, so the sports betting issue in New Jersey appears to be shelved for now. In general, the decision means that states cannot expect to collect revenues on sports gambling, because the ban on their ability to sponsor gambling in their jurisdictions remains in effect, except for Nevada. Online Casinos Still in Play Of course, the sports betting sponsorship ban does not apply to gambling, or online casinos. While the acceptance of online casinos is progressing, the threat to the integrity of an industry as huge as sports is too great an argument to overcome in regards to sports wagering per se.
Well, there is on place the US Men's National Soccer Team has unquestionable support and loyalty: Las Vegas. Betting with Heart In Vegas, people are betting with their hearts; increased hope for US World Cup victory has resulted in enough faith and loyalty bets to increase rooting interests as to spike Vegas sports betting levels. Support Your Local Sports Team South Point sports book director Bert Osborne compared the activity to rabid college football betting Saturday night on their local college football teams, characterizing the activity as “makes or breaks an entire Saturday.” Just in this case, the betting was on a national team, not a regional one. Tie Helps Bookmakers Suffice to say, the letdown of the US' allowance of Portugal to tie in the last second crushed the hearts of the ambitious American betting public, but the unlikely result of course helped the bookkeepers who were inundated with bets on an American victory. Online Sports Betting Would Amplify “Heart-betting” The letdown to Americans in Vegas was minimized, when compared to online sports betting. If online sports bets were allowed across America, one can only begin to imagine the amount of “home” bets which would have been placed, and the collective groan at the final result. Lose a Bet and Win? However, since most sports-betting referendums revolve around states collecting revenues from sports-betting, even the heartbreaking last second goal of Portugal would have stood to benefit the US population to an extent because in a state-sponsored sports betting system the states themselves would collect on a percentage or tax of sports-book revenues. In other words, the state would get a cut of that surprise victory to improve public works and projects. The Overwhelming Moral Argument of Law Systematically, the logic works. The problem still remains the means. America's laws have powerful moral undertones, and even state-sponsored sports-betting benefits are not justifiable to those in the American public who view betting, or gambling, as an illicit activity. While online gambling may take hold in the United States, the possibility that sports-betting to be included in that list is near impossible. Far less possible than, say, a World Cup championship for the US Men's National Team in 2014.

SBTech is now offering rapid in-play sports betting with bets settled within one to five minutes. Rapid In-Play Set to Spread Fast The rapid in-play betting market, popularized in Asia, is spreading to the rest of the world. As it sounds, the new market represents a veritable rapid-fire environment for wagering on specific events within a sporting event during a particular period of time or game. After entering into an agreement with Las Vegas' Metric Gaming, online gaming provider Coral Interactive debuted a similar product, called SuperLive. Not to be left out, Bet Victor recently released its version of rapid in-play called Minute to Win it. No One Wants to Be Left Out As far as the rapid in-play market is concerned, beyond leading gaming providers seeking to stay ahead of the competition, the increased usage and revenues that rapid in-game wagering can provide is a virtual lock to spur more in-play market offerings from the vast array of gaming online providers out there in the coming weeks and months.
Gaming operator Bwin is expanding its strategic integration of third party games by signing a new international supplier agreement. Bwin.party Expanding The deal signed between Bwin.party and software supplier International Game Technology (IGT) continues the expansion of Bwin.party's portfolio of third-party games. As a result of the new partnership, Bwin.party will integrate IGT’s most popular games into an international platform, so that Bwin.party will now be to offer its content across the US state of New Jersey, the whole of regulated Europe, and through all its gaming websites. IGT Library Open to Bwin Over 100 new online and mobile game titles will be made available to Bwin.party through IGT library access, titles which Bwin.party will release gradually in upcoming months. Bwin.party's move into games developed by third parties is consistent with a diversification from solely proprietary-only content offerings. Bwin.party strategy Bwin.party CEO Norbert Teufelberger explained the strategy further, affirming that “We have actually made a decision that we are not doing everything ourselves anymore, but we are opening ourselves up to integrate third-party content, especially on the casino side.” This is Bwin's second third-party deal in recent months, after signing with Williams Interactive, another third party provider, in April. IGT Strategy The deal works for IGT because of the substantial increase in exposure across the Bwin.party platform for the games it supplies. As IGT Commercial Director of Interactive Leigh Nissim explained, “This agreement with Bwin.party is a key milestone in our journey across regulated markets – it significantly extends the presence of IGT games in key markets around the world.”
