Live Bet: European Qualifiers Continue

The Group stage of the European Qualifiers continues today with a number of matches being played beginning at 17:00 (UK), and again at 19:45 (UK). The highlight of the night is the match-up between the World Cup third place squad from the Netherlands, facing off with the Czech Republic at Stadion Letna in Prague.  These teams have met nine times in the past with the record standing at 3 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses so tonight's match will be critical in seeing which teams gets the edge.  The Czechs are 2-1 at home against the Dutch but they will have to be at their best to compete with a similar line-up that beat Brazil just a few months ago.   Holland is Hurting It is still unclear whether Arjen Robben will be cleared to play in tonight's match against the Czech Republic, and the Dutch side will be without Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Rafael van der Vaart.  The team lost a friendly match with Italy a few days ago and it was apparent that they are in a weakened state without their stars. How the Czechs Can Win at Home The home team are the underdogs tonight but they should not be counted out just yet.  Pavel Vrba is hoping that the practice his team has had together, and the injuries to the visiting side could translate into a much-needed win.  Vrba has so far been a disappointment, losing all four of his matches but he is optimistic tonight.  Matěj Vydra and David Lafata will be looking to put the ball in the back of the net in front of their fans, which will be easier said than done against Tim Krul, in net for Holland. Winner Sports Live Markets Punters seeking a wide-range of online sports betting markets, including live in-play lines should take a look at Winner Sportsbook. The UK sportsbook has the Dutch as favorites at 1.90 while the Czechs are 4.00.  There are dozens of additional markets to choose from and special deals for new registrants as well.

All Eyes on California as Apple Unveils New iPhone 6

It's that time of the year again: Apple is unveiling its new iPhone and the expectations are huge. While the release of the iPhone 5s and 5c last September didn't bring any big innovations, Apple's iPhone 6 is expected to feature many new features and to revolutionize the size of iPhones. The new iPhone is expected to hit stores later this month. Live Stream Event The unveiling event will be streamed live across the world from the Flint Center for the Performing Arts at De Anza College in Cuperinto – this is the where Steve Jobs first introduced the original Mac 30 years ago and comes to show how big this launch is for Apple. The event is scheduled to commence at 10am California time (6pm UK time). iPhone 6 Innovations and Mobile Gambling With its bigger size which has already earned it the nickname "phablet", the iPhone 6, rumored to be available in two sizes – 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch - could mean bigger, better and smoother games. The specs are rumored to have been upgraded, with more memory and stronger chips; battery life is one of the main things concerning iPhone and Apple fans around the world. The effect of the iPhone 6 on the mobile gaming world is yet to be seen but it is most certain that it will require adaptation and adjustment on the part of mobile software and gaming developers as well as from online casinos. iWatch Unveiling Expected Alongside the iPhone 6, it's estimated that Apple will also unveil its highly anticipated smartwatch which was already dubbed "iWatch". Apple has pretty much revolutionized the world when it first introduced the iPhone, gradually making the smartphone a standard. Then, the iPad brought tablets to the forefront and these have caught well. The iWatch could very well steal the show today in California, if unveiled.

Singapore May Soon Outlaw Online Gambling

Soon, online gambling in Singapore could be outlawed. The Remote Gambling Bill, which prohibits online gambling, will be considered by the Singapore Parliament. If this bill is passed it will eliminate nearly all online gambling facilities available to Singaporean players. The bill essentially prevents online gambling by blocking payments to online casinos and by blocking gambling websites entirely. In addition, this bill would criminalize remote gambling activities that are carried out over the phone, Internet or similar types of communications technology. These types of restrictions are applicable for gambling that takes place within Singapore’s jurisdiction no matter where the online casino operator is located or where the wager is placed. However, this bill offers an exception for online gambling providers that are based in Singapore and operate non-profit entities that contribute to social, charitable or public causes in the country. In addition, these entities will need to show that they have a history of compliance with various laws and regulations. No Promotion of Online Gambling Activities The online gambling providers that are exempt with have to adhere to strict regulations which are designed to protect the public and promote responsible gambling practices. The bill also outlaws any promotion or advertisement of online gambling activities. Singapore currently has stringent gambling laws but the laws do not discuss any regulations or legality in regards to online gambling because they were created before the era of the Internet. In a press statement, the Ministry of Home Affairs of MHA said that when this bill was created, the MHA studied practices and laws of other jurisdictions like France, Norway and Hong Kong. In addition, there was a month and a half consultation held by Singapore to get feedback about the proposed bill. The goal of this bill is to maintain order and protect vulnerable and young people from being exploited by online gambling.

An interesting Q&A will be held with former footballer and manager John Charles Bryan Barnes MBE. The foundation is dedicated to helping the injured, sick and terminally ill with a focus on the potential healing power of sports. This help is carried out with the funds raised by BiG, and the sports dinner is a major event for both raising funds and to broaden awareness about those in society who are in need of help.

Mexico Adapts Online Gambling Laws

A long awaited update to Mexican gambling legislation adapts several essential aspects of existing law to current gambling environments and activities that are rapidly spreading across the country. The legislative update is due to be passed later this month to address a population of 120 million, which makes Mexico North America's second largest online gambling market. Fast-Tracked Through Congress The updates have been drafted by the Mexican gaming regulation body: the Association of Licensees, Operators and Suppliers of Gaming and Entertainment in Mexico (AIEJA). The legislative initiative will be introduced to Parliament on September 9; where it must be approved by Mexico's House of Representatives. The full approval and completion of the update's formal course through Parliament is expected as early as September 20th, according to AIEJA President Miguel Angel Ochoa Sanchez. To Rapidly Regulate Ongoing Activity The need to update the country's existing gambling code is related to other corrupt activities which have been associated with gambling in a nation that faces an ongoing battle against corruption. Illicit activities which will be addressed with this update include money laundering and illegal trafficking of all kinds, with prohibitions expected to specify the activities which will be prohibited but which have for a long time been funded by (or funded) gambling activities. The new legislation is expected to focus on conditions for provider licenses at this point, with more player-specific conditions added as needed down the road. The new legislation is designed to address and curtail the cropping up of quasi-illegal (translation: unregulated) side gambling shops, offering gambling outlets with slot machines or sports betting available through in rooms adjacent to legitimate businesses such as drug stores. Measures in the new legislation include confiscation of gaming devices found in these sideshops as well as significant fines. The key to the legislation language is identifying the types of gambling activity that take place in Mexico and will be tabbed for regulation.

Christie Attempts Bold Sports Betting Directive in NJ

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has taken a strong and controversial step in the movement to regulate online gambling in New Jersey. The directive issued by his administration calls for, or enables, Garden State casinos and racetracks to provide sports betting. Sports Betting Controversy Betting on sporting events remains a huge taboo in the US, due to concerns about the vulnerability of the integrity of US sports leagues to corruption, real or imagined. This is a PR issue as much as a legal issue, and Christie has taken it upon himself to cross a crucial line in New Jersey, one which will undoubtedly be actively opposed by sports leagues in America. The governor has taken the initiative as a result of recent federal court rulings in New Jersey which removed prohibitions against casinos and horse racing tracks from offering sports betting, as long as they were not sponsored or licensed by the state. Christie has asked federal court to further approve the directive as well. Professional and collegiate sports leagues are expected to oppose the directive issued through the state attorney general’s office, in a similar fashion in which those leagues' previously opposed the state's efforts to overturn an earlier federal ban on sports betting in all but four states. Slow Casino Response As of now, representatives for NJ casinos and tracks generally express no immediate plans to add sports betting, as private companies apparently adopting a wait-and-see attitude in light of the impending opposition. It does seem a huge step, cost-wise, for a largely unresolved issue, as the US Supreme Court did not even rule on the earlier NJ effort to overturn the federal ban. The directive issued by Christie has been accompanied by the filing of a federal motion requesting that the court modify a ruling that blocked a licensing program for sport betting previously passed in New Jersey. Current Sports Betting  Online sports betting is possible in many countries. Punters can bet on trusted online sportsbook sites such as as bet365 Sports, William Hill Sports and Winner Sports. These sites have live betting functions, where players can bet on live matches as they happen, and preview odds for each game.

The device will have 64-bit support and will sport the M8, a new motion coprocessor which is the natural continuation of the M7 found on iPhone 5S. Battery life is expected to be much better on the new iPhone 6 due to the device's bigger body. This is good news for online gambling. Now that more and more sites are online, the bigger iPhone 6 screen will make it easier for online casino players to see the graphics and features of the games on mobile.   iPhone 6 also marks the beginning of Apple Pay, a wireless payment method which is already supported by many merchants and businesses. We'll wait and see, but this also might be a new payment option for online gambling on mobile. It's rectangular and sleek with a sapphire display and a nifty digital crown for control. Apple Watch will come in 38mm and 42mm sizes and different strap choices. Apple Watch will run outside apps, it will charge by a cord, will include many fitness and health features and most importantly – will tell accurate time with a deviation of no more than 50 milliseconds off at any time. New UK Gambling Act Has Major Implications

The iPoker network have announced that three online poker rooms will be making changes to their operations in the United Kingdom. Of the three brands, Winner and Titan have already launched all-new '.co.uk' gambling sites while Mansion has left the iPoker network completely.  The reason for these moves is due to the new online gambling legislation due to come into effect on October 1.  The new regulations will drastically change the amount of online poker rooms in the UK, but most likely the cost that players will be paying for online poker. It is not just poker that is being tested under the new Gambling Act as online sports books and online casinos will need UK licenses if they are to take bets from players in the country. Many brands are now scrambling to ensure they will be able to operate legally come October 1, which is causing a lot of action behind the scenes of the online gambling industry worldwide.   Player’s pockets most likely to suffer The second, and most substantial new regulation of the new Act is a “point of consumption” tax, a 15% cost on all gross profits on UK players. It would be wise to understand that operators, no matter how big will need to raise their prices for players in the UK. There are many brands that already have a UK license and it is expected that all of the big brands like PokerStars, 888 Poker, Unibet, Full Tilt and more to remain.  There will however be many small brands that will have no option other than getting out.  “Due to changing regulations regarding online gaming in the United Kingdom, we must inform you that Mansion Poker is required to close its doors to UK players on September 15th, 2014,” related Mansion regarding their withdrawal from the industry.   Winner and Titan are currently on licenses in Antigua, which is a region white listed by the UK gambling commission until they get full UK licenses.
