Q1 2016 Figures Show France is Righting the Ship

At the end of the day, or quarter, the iGaming business in France looks to be booming as well. Q1 Highs Q1 totals posted for 2016 represent the largest single year-on-year gain in sports betting and the highest quarterly wagering total yet recorded. Monday's figures released by French regulator ARJEL were led by online sports betting handle in the three months ending March 31 to reach €516m, vaulting a  massive 47% from the same period last year. Total online sports revenue by French-licensed operators improved overall by 30% to €82m. Sports Betting Growth Significantly, ARJEL credited sports betting growth for the 2.1 rise in betting returns to players.  This along with a 75% year-on-year increase in bonus offers provided a robust sense of safety and success which the regulator believes encouraged reinvestment of punter winnings more often. Another substantive boost to the rise in betting returns was an equally encouraging 34% rise in the number of weekly active betting accounts. Individual Sports This activity carried over to all sports in France, which is just getting its latest regulation model up and running. All individual sports bet on in France experienced encouragingly substantial Q1 gains, with football stakes jumping 45%, tennis 46%, basketball 57% and rugby an incredible 71%, and hockey more than doubling! The weak spot was horse-racing, with that handle falling 7% year-on-year to €247m and revenues falling 5% to €66m.  ARJEL attributed drops to decreasing wager size of race bettors. The Poker Jump An area of concern has been poker.  A modest 2% jump for Q1 brought the market gain to €62m for the the first year-on-year revenue gain posted since Q3 2011.  However, revenue increases were brought about by higher tournament fees.  Cash game stakes continued to drop, plummeting another 7% to €953m.   Poker Aid Help is on the way, as politicians have after much debate approved French-licensed sites to share liquidity with licensed operators in other European Union regulated markets.  This paves the way for highly popular international poker play.  Mobile Use Up Finally, for the second consecutive quarter, more than half of all digital sports bets were placed via mobile devices, with that trend expected to accelerate as well.

US Online Gambling News Round-Up: May 2016

It's been a busy week in the world of online gambling; while online gambling opponents are trying to revive an old bill, New Jersey's online gambling stats are reaching record highs, showing that the industry cannot be stopped. RAWA Supporters Resort to Sneakiness to Try and Pass Bill Online gambling opponents have been trying to pass RAWA, the Restoration of America’s Wire Act, for years. RAWA would essentially impose a federal ban on online gambling, including the states that already legalized it. When proponents of RAWA were dealt another blow a few months ago, even Sheldon Adelson, the main mover and shaker behind the bill, seemed to give in and rumors spread that the bill would be reworked. Last week, however, Senator Lindsey Graham revived the original bill by trying to sneak it into a piece of totally-unrelated legislation. But his attempts did not go unnoticed, as he had hoped - poker watchdogs were quickly turned on to Graham’s seemingly innocuous addition to the annual Appropriations Bill for the Departments of Commerce and Justice, Science, and “related agencies.” This is a bill that has nothing to do with online gambling, and yet, Graham inserted a pro-RAWA paragraph smack in the middle of it. While the text itself seems to be more of a note than a suggestion to turn anything into law, even notes are taken seriously in legal documents. Fortunately, Graham’s move did not go unnoticed before the bill was approved. New Jersey Continues to Break Records The good news of the week is that New Jersey has broken its online gaming revenue record for the second straight month in a row. In March, New Jersey online gaming revenue brought in $15.5 million, creating the state’s record high. But April smashed that record with a whopping $17 million, creating a new high and a new bar to aim for this May.

BetVictor’s Million Pound Goal Competition Announced for Euro 2016

Sports betting sites are only going to get more competitive in their offers as Euro 2016 gets closer. However, the sites will have to play catch-up on BetVictor Sports and its £1 million event. Dubbed the Million Pound Goal, the competition will give registered users the chance to claim £1 million if they can win on their own. How to Enter For any users who want to take part, they can start by staking a wager worth £5 or more. By doing so, this will entitle them to make a prediction of the first goal scorer in the Euro 2016 final, while also selecting the exact minute of that goal. Given the potential for the lack of a perfect match, BetVictor will then check to see which player has been identified as the first scorer in the penalty shootout. In the event that this does not work, BetVictor will then identify which entrants selected the closest minute of the goal. Having just one prediction will make it tough to get the right answer, so BetVictor is giving users the opportunity to secure additional entries for the competition. Basically, players can acquire an extra entry every time they place five qualifying bets of £5 or more. Therefore, it makes more sense to wager strategically to secure extra predictions. When to Enter From the outset of Euro 2016, players can build up entries before making their predictions at a later date. In terms of scheduling, there will be a four-day entrance period from the second semi-final on 7 July 2016 until the final takes place on 10 July 2016. By design, BetVictor has created a competition where a player will win a £1 million windfall (or players will share). The fact that players get to wait means that they are getting to select their preferred options from a more select grouping of options.

Core Gaming Kicks Off with Football Frenzy Instant Game

Euro 2016 is only a few weeks away and Sky Vegas is making early preparations before the tournament begins. From May, registered users will get a specially themed game entitled Football Frenzy. With time to kill ahead of the action beginning, Sky Vegas Casino players can turn to this new instant game as a source of entertainment. Bagatelle Design Software developer CORE Gaming is responsible for creating Football Frenzy, which is designed as a bagatelle-style instant game. For clarity, what this means is that a ball is dropped at the top of a slanted table in the hope of landing it an area to earn points. The alternative is to reach the bottom and end up with none. In implementing bagatelle within the modern age, CORE Gaming has designed Football Frenzy to take place on a pitch. The game then begins by dropping the ball downwards, with two teams of players to act as obstacles. Win up to £250k The first of the positive outcomes are the free kick spots, which will give players a complimentary turn. However, the more appealing option is to end up in the winning area at the bottom middle of the pitch. Alternatively, players can end up in one of the two miss areas on either side and win nothing. When wagering, players can start with the £1 minimum and have the chance to win up to £25,000 with a single turn. Meanwhile, those who wager the £10 maximum will have a shot to win up to £250,000 on their turn. However, players will need to score into a final net before they can unlock the winnings. Football Frenzy is the latest release from Core Gaming, a casino software provider responsible for creating more than 150 games across an array of categories. The company also ensures multiplatform releases through simultaneous launches to desktop and mobile.

Live Betting: NBA Western Conference Finals Game 2

It was something that no one had suspected would ever happen in Game 1 of the Conference Finals between the Oklahoma Thunder and the Golden State Warriors. The Thunder were able to shut down the MVP offensive attacks by Steph Curry and hold on for the win in Game 1 108-102 in Oakland. The Thunder lost all of the regular season games against the Warriors, but after beating the Spurs and holding on for a Game 1 win against the Warriors, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the rest of the Thunder look like they could be the team to watch out for.  The Warriors came out strong in the opening quarters of the game, leading 60-47 at the half. Whatever Billy Donovan said to his team during halftime must have worked wonders as the Thunder roared back in the third and fourth quarters outscoring the Warriors 61-42 and holding the reigning NBA Champions to a mere 14 points at home in the fourth quarter. The Thunder outscored, out rebounded and and had fewer turnovers than the Warriors, which was ultimately the final nail in the Game 1 coffin to get a huge win. The Thunder are Incredible On-the-Road Tonight, the series is still in Oakland and the Warriors will be working to level the series at a game apiece as it heads over to Oklahoma for Games 3 and 4. The Thunder are playing extremely well on-the-road, winning the final games against the Spurs in San Antonio as well. They are now 5-1 when playing as the visiting team in these NBA playoffs, but can they really beat the best team in the NBA back-to-back? It is very doubtful that the Warriors will lose two-straight, something that did not happen once during the regular season.  Game 2 Online Wagering The NBA playoffs are one of the most heavily wagered upon sporting events in the world and bet365 Sports is one of the leaders in NBA playoff odds. The Warriors are huge favorites in Game 2 at 1.22, while the Thunder ring in at 4.50 for the outright win.

Special: The Rise And Rise Of Online Gambling In Spain

Over recent years, online gambling has seen a boost in traffic and revenue as major operators focused on the market and more players discovered the thrill of betting on the wide range of possibilities on the internet. It is now considered to be the capital of gambling across Europe, being only bigger by the UK in this aspect. The growth is due to a combination of factors that includes the growing technology and advances that allow gamblers to easily have access to their favorite options. More than that, the regulations in the country have allowed the industry to expand while making sure that security and fair gaming remain flawless. Other reasons include the popularity of casino games like slots, the wide appeal of sports betting and more which we will take a closer look at right now. Keeping online gambling safe and legal The main driving incentive for growth comes with the local regulatory body known as Juego Seguro. This translates to "safe play" and it is a crucial part of the online gambling industry that allows players to stay relaxed and not have to worry about their funds or about the legitimacy of their online betting. Although the legal market in Spain is fairly new and awarded its first license just a few years ago in 2012, it has grown very quickly over the years even despite the sharp recession in the country. It wasn’t until the summer of 2015 that the Spanish regulators gave the green light to online slots as part of the iGaming offering and this quickly increased the traffic for online casinos. For the third quarter of 2015, online slots represented €18.1 million out of the total of €84.2 million in revenue generated from online gambling. Leading online casinos like bet365 Casino, Marca Aquestas Casino and 888 Casino quickly became the biggest brands in Spain for their impressive game collections rich in video slots. Sports betting driven by soccer There is no denying that football, or soccer, is the biggest sport in Spain and this also makes it the leading option for betting at online sportsbooks. World-famous teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona have countless fans in the country and well beyond it so every important match comes with a great response from online gamblers looking to support their favorites and win some money in the process. Games are available on television at almost every hour and the convenient system that online bookmakers put in place allow punters to make their bets in a matter of minutes. Adding up rake in online poker for Spanish operators While online casinos and online sports betting are huge in Spain, we can't overlook the importance of online poker for the gambling industry as a whole. The card game has increased significantly in popularity across Spain and the internet poker rooms have a lot to do with this. Playing online is much easier and convenient than having to go to a casino and stay there for hours. The comfort of playing for real money at home appeals to most Spanish players and the pools at online card rooms can have players from around the world. Everything being regulated means that Spain gets revenue from online gambling through taxing operators. Everybody wins.

NHL Western Conference Finals: Blues and Sharks Tied 1-1

The NHL conference finals have been incredible up until now. Both the East and the West are giving fans their money's worth, as the games have been some of the best we have seen all year. The Blues and the Sharks and the Penguins and the Lightning are the last four remaining teams in contention for a berth to the Stanley Cup Finals, but which teams will make it through. Tonight, the Blues are expected to make some serious line changes as they lost Game 2, 4-0 as the Sharks humiliated them at Scottrade center in St. Louis on Tuesday night. The series is now tied one game apiece, but heading into San Jose for the next two games means that the Blues will need to turn their shutout loss around and win on-the-road if they are to stay within reach of the Sharks. The Sharks did not have the best home record during the regular season at 18-20-3, but they have managed to recapture home-ice advantage during these playoffs by beating Nashville 4-0 and a solid win against the Blues. "I think we're comfortable here at home. We said it after the Nashville series: If you got a Game 7, you would rather play at home. I think that was a big help for us. We don't have home ice advantage in this series, but by getting that split, we do now," stated Sharks coach Peter DeBoer. NHL Online Betting With the playoffs in full swing and the conference finals heating up, punters have a great opportunity to win lucrative cash with leading sports bookies like bet365 Sports. Benfica and Maritimo Square off in the Taca Da Liga Final

Benfica expanded its winning streak to six games in a row, enough to win the domestic championship at the expense of its city rival. It was a tight fight that started in the first round and only ended when the final whistle was blown, but they can’t relax yet. One more trophy is within their grasp and if they manage to defeat Maritimo on the road, they will also win Taca da Liga. Teams at the Opposite End of Form Benfica is firing on all cylinders and has scored an average of two goals per match during the winning streak. This is reassuring ahead of this fixture, especially now that they take on a team that won just twice in the last nine games. Not having home pitch advantage shouldn’t be a big problem, given the fact that the reigning champions have secured more victories on the road than any other Portuguese team. Maritimo secured its presence in the first division back in March and since then lost seven out of nine games, while being shutout in most cases. It looked like players almost lost motivation to fight anymore, which resulted in a disappointing finish in the second half of the tables. Fatigue Could Be a Problem for Benfica The only thing that could ruin the party for the newly crowned champions is fatigue, since Benfica has played a lot of games recently. That’s why they need to come out firing on all cylinders and take the lead early on, to stun their opponents. Benfica is clearly the better team and if it starts aggressively, it should not have any problems in winning by two goals or more, an outcome priced at even odds by bet365 sports. Maritimo lacks both the stamina and class to overcome an early deficit and has a permeable defensive that can be its undoing.
